What's happening to my mom?

So, early this morning, around 5:30, my mom woke both my grandmother and I up because she had a serious pain coming from her belly on. We called the paramedics because she said it got worse and soon after that, they came. A man and a woman. They were checking her and all that and then instructed her to drink some hot seltzer water. I asked the man, "Sir? What's wrong with my mother?" and he just said, "I don't really know." and then before all that, I had searched on the computer for belly on pains. The link I first came to was a link about appendicitis. So, my grnadmother asked him about that and he said, "Appendicitis would be ripping pain from the belly on and lower abdomen.It's probably just gas." so obviously she doesn't have that since it got better. So, afterwards, she was in my room with me, still suffering, and I was ironing my blouse for school. So, she went into the living room and then out of no where I just hear gagging noises. I look out my room and there is my mother holding her mouth and rushing to the bathroom. What's wrong?
