Did John Lennon have it right? "No religion too"?

Well he meant that if it wasn't religion, people of different religions wouldn't fight each other causing war, so the opposition of peace and all John wanted was love and peace...it's like in the song God, he says he doesn;t believ in all those idols he mentions including Jesus, Elvis, Dylan , Beatles but the true meaning of it is that people must believe in themselves and what they can achieve, not always look up on somebody, everybody must make their own change, that was John's philosophy. He believed in God but as sth present in everybody, not as an old man in the sky. And he just didn't approve to organized religion and yeah, he was probably right.
